notice

Dear Lakeland Catholic School Community,

A partial solar eclipse is expected to take place on April 8, 2024.

While this is an exciting event and learning opportunity, we want to assure you we are taking the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of our school communities.

The partial solar eclipse is expected to begin at 11:56 a.m. in our region, peaking at 12:50 p.m., and concluding at 1:44 p.m. Please note, these estimates will vary depending on your community.

Considering this, our elementary and junior high schools may adjust their schedules and activities for that day to ensure students stay indoors during the eclipse. However, high school students will follow their regular schedules. Parents who prefer their children in Grades 9 to 12 to remain indoors during the eclipse should discuss this with them, and each school will provide indoor accommodations as needed.

We want to assure you these steps are being implemented with the utmost care for the safety of our students. We strongly recommend that all families review and adhere to the eye safety guidelines outlined by the Canadian Association of Optometrists during the eclipse.
